The #1 Business Growth Strategy is Not What you Think
Today, I want to lay out the case for why “Giving” is the best growth strategy for your business. I know that at this point some of you are probably not sure. You are probably wondering if you can really give and not sabotage your business. You are probably wondering if you can really give back and earn a profit rather than just starting another non-profit organization.
There is an old Proverb of Solomon from the Bible that says, “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:24-25 NLT)
Solomon was one of the richest men in the world at his time. The accounts of the wealth he accumulated are staggering. He was also known for his incredible wisdom. Therefore, he knew a little bit about growing wealth and he said that if we are generous we will prosper.
I am a man of faith and I believe that this principle is part of how the world was created. We reap what we sow. Therefore, this principle works whether be believe God is involved or not.

There are people who have accumulated great financial wealth by hoarding and not being generous. However, no one has ever created abundant wealth in health, relationships, significance, and reputation without being generous. True wealth, success and prosperity for our lives and our businesses involve much more than just finances. If we build wealth in all these areas, the financial wealth will be a natural result. By living this way, we will be able to enjoy the resulting wealth.
“When I chased after money, I never had enough. When I got my life on purpose and focused on giving of myself and everything that arrived into my life, then I was prosperous.” – Wayne Dyer
The path of giving leads to a life so full of goodness that it is almost overwhelming. There is an opportunity to leave the life of struggle behind… and this is it. I did not say that life would be easy. Generosity is hard work and sometimes people reject you and stab you in the back. But, it is the only way to truly live. The blessings far outweigh the risks.
“Giving is the highest expression of potency. In the very act of giving, I experience my strength, my wealth, my power. This experience of heightened vitality and potency fills me with joy. I experience myself as overflowing, spending, alive, hence as joyous. Giving is more joyous than receiving, not because it is a deprivation, but because in the act of giving lies the expression of my aliveness.” – Erich Fromm
