5 Reasons to Start a New Business in 2015
It’s a New Year! Why not kick off 2015 with a new business? Maybe you have considered starting a business for a long time, but have never taken the leap. Now is the time! You can start your own business in 2015. There has never been a better time to take action and change your destiny.
Here are 5 Reasons to Start a New Business in 2015
- Create financial and time flexibility for you and your family.
- You are able to pursue your passions.
- Increase your significant impact on others.
- Never before have there been more incredible, low cost tools available to help you get started.
- The world needs what you have to offer.
To illustrate this for you, I want to share with you the story of Tonia Clark of www.WhyNotMom.com. The following is a brief interview that I conducted with her. I believe you will be inspired by her story.
How has founding this business improved the quality of life for you and your family?
As the mother of three children ages 10, 8 and 6 with my youngest having special needs, I have found it a blessing to be able to raise my children from the comfort of my home. Years ago when my youngest was barely a toddler, my husband and I switched roles. I went back to work while he stayed home with the kids. It wasn’t an ideal situation for either one of us. He had been laid off one too many times as a diesel mechanic during the housing economy downfall.
We both quickly realized that neither one of us were happy with this arrangement. I longed to be home with my kids and he loved working and providing for our family. Ironically, I never saw myself as a stay at home mom. I planned on having a career and a family after college.
Of course, once I became a mom, everything changed. I knew in my heart I needed to be with my children as much as they wanted me to be with them.
Once I realized that I wanted to be home with our children, there was also the realization that our finances were grim. Even if I wanted to work outside the home, daycare costs alone would eat up most of my salary. The solution seemed to be to work from home. I searched for online businesses that catered to moms and the vast majority, to my dismay, were scams!
Fortunately in my search for online employment, I discovered something surprising. There were multitudes of mothers like me who had started their own businesses from their own homes. Many started right from their kitchen tables! Whether it was a handmade item or a product or service they invented, these ideas were so inspiring to me!
I also noticed so many of these women had innovative products and/or services, but they didn’t have a strong marketing plan, in most cases. That’s when Whynotmom.com was born.
My goal and main mission has been to help as many work-at-home moms as possible to achieve their business goals, by providing them with tools and resources they need to succeed.
I have spent the past several years since then, networking, researching and connecting with some of the best and brightest in many aspects of the world of business.
Napoleon Hill referred to it as a “MasterMind Group”.
All though I have many more paths to cross and hurdles to jump, I am very excited to be on this journey.

Over the years, I have assisted many women with their business needs and this is what a few have to say:
“In a world where some brands and blogs can be more competitive than helpful, Tonia L. Clark of Whynotmom.com has been just the opposite. She has always offered up her time and support of others and taken the approach that helping others does more good than anything else. I highly recommend Tonia and have appreciated her guidance with my own blog.” Melissa Ulrich of Main Street Tales and Trips to the Mouse
“Tonia has been a great asset to me as I journeyed my way into the world of marketing and branding my start-up business and invention of the Bobee. Her helpful tips and advice gave me just the encouragement I needed as I worked on expanding my product line. She advised me to put myself out there more and put a face to my brand. I’m so grateful for her insight and advice.” Stacey Harfert inventor of the Bobee.
“Tonia’s ability to help her clients define what they are looking for is a rare find. Coupled with her professionalism and responsiveness, the experience of working with Tonia is both enjoyable and highly productive.” Maureen Fitzgerald of Blogger Success Tips
What is your vision for the future of the website?
I plan on creating a stronger collaboration between brands and bloggers, as well as assisting more women in business with their marketing, network, and overall business needs.
Ideally, I would love to have a warehouse full of products from family owned businesses to sell directly for wholesale to retail.
There is a great need in the marketplace for educating consumers as well as retailers to provide a more conscious choice with our purchases. Would we rather our purchasing powers contribute to a family or a corporation? These are questions we must ask ourselves from time to time. Granted, we can’t buy every consumable product/service from a family business, but we can surely make a better effort to do so more than we are now.
