Does the Bible Have Anything to Say About Business?
Have you ever really thought about this question?
As an entrepreneur and a former pastor, it is definitely something I have thought about. Today, I would tell you, Absolutely YES!
However, for years, I didn’t really believe it. I might have said that I believed the Bible could help me with my business. However, that was just in same generic way that I believed that the Bible could make me a better person.
Over the last few years, my understanding has changed. First, if I believe that the good news of Jesus Christ can transform every area of my life, then I have to believe that it can transform my business. Therefore, the word of God must have a lot to say about business.
With this understanding, I started to examine the word of God with a business lens to see what I could find. The results are amazing.
Here are just a few of the nuggets I have found…
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those that are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” Ephesians 5:15-17
Live like those that are wise… make the most of opportunities… don’t act thoughtlessly… This sounds like good business advise to me.
“When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God’s blessing.” Hebrew 6:7
Business success comes from God! The farmer works but God sends the rain.
“A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies ends up in poverty. The trustworthy person will get a rich reward, but a person who wants quick riches will get into trouble.” Proverbs 28:19-20
Get rich quick schemes result in poverty by hard work results in a reward. This is more solid business advice.
As I have looked at the Bible through the Business lens, I have found that a lot of what the Bible has to say about business is in the wisdom of Solomon. We read that wisdom in Ecclesiastes and Proverbs.
Therefore, I have been digging into this wisdom. The result of this study is what I am calling “The Solomon Effect.” And, I can’t keep it all to myself. I am excited to teach these truths in a virtual workshop that is accessible to anyone anywhere.
In this 90-minute interactive “virtual workshop,” I’m going to share with you… “The Solomon Effect” — a series of immediately actionable principles, secrets and systems extracted from the Book of Proverbs… tested and refined by the fire of my own real-life struggles and victories as both an entrepreneur and a pastor.
I have limited the space in the workshop so that I can interact with the participants and answer questions. Therefore, if you would like to reserve your space, click here now.
Over the next few weeks I will be sharing more about what the Bible has to say about business.
